I'm back to report on a lovely trip to College Town USA, aka Lawrence, Kansas. My favorite group of humans and I took a rather grueling roadtrip, which I affectionately likened to a Middle Passage-esque journey into the "real" Midwest (or maybe the "fake" South? a point of contention, apparently). But, unlike Dr. Johnson's Rutherford, our passage was quite intentional, as we were on the way to see a long-missed Michigander / KU student.
Lawrence is, in a phrase, a place to brunch. Not only because one can fill themselves up to the eyeballs in eggs benny and hash (which I did), but also because of the complete acceptance of relaxation about the place. Perhaps I'm biased, as I was surrounded by my best friends, but I felt like I was in a snowglobe that rained happiness and margaritas. What a place. Either way I was delighted by the hospitality of Lawrence and the people I met are missed this week in Chicago. Thank you for all the fun, Kansas!
Next up on the travels- ITALY! countdown: 21 days.
Bye for now!
P.S. I finished Gregg Hurwitz's Orphan X in the car, check out what I thought of it!
